Book Reviews

Over the past 2 months I have been reading 3 books. One of them I would recommend to anyone new intermittent fasting.

AC: The Power of Appetite Correction by Bert Herring

I rate this book thumbs up.  I would recommend this to someone just starting out with intermittent fasting.  He has a background section (Learning) and goes on to offer practical insights and tools for fasting.  It is an easy read and moderately informative.  This book does not delve much into physiology and is not written from a low carb slant.  I thought the Obesity Code was a better, more in depth read and personally prefer it over this book if I were to only invest in purchasing one of them.

Dr. Herring has a nice blog too.  Check it out here.

Periodic Fasting: Repair your DNA, Grow Younger, and Learn to Appreciate your Food by Cristian Vlad Zot

I rate this one thumbs neutral/not recommended, though the reviews on Amazon are largely good.  This book has quite a bit of info on the history of fasting which I didn’t find too interesting. The section where he describes his fasting experiences was okay.

Why We Get Fat: And What to Do About It by Gary Taubes

Again, I rate this one thumbs neutral/not recommended, though the reviews on Amazon are largely good. I am familiar with Gary Taubes from his ground breaking article “What If It’s All Been A Big Fat Lie” however I did not enjoy this book.
