The word groove is defined as a long, narrow cut or depression, especially one made to guide motion; an established routine or habit. In 1988, Stella got her groove back during a chance trip to Jamaica with the help of a young hottie. Although different than what Stella was looking for and found, I am working on getting my own groove, my routines and habits, back on track.
Gratefully, this week I picked up my first share at the community supported agriculture (CSA) farm in my area. It has been a while since I was a member and the timing is a perfect mindset boost. Admittedly, I have been struggling to be consistent and stay focused on my goals. I have not been doing MY work. This CSA season will provide a weekly reminder of the blessing of access to quality produce and my ability to support the efforts of those in my community who provide this service. The point I am making is not that anyone needs to join a CSA or eat organic. The point is that we need to pay attention to the choices we make with regard to what we eat and we make the effort to make the best choices we can which looks different for each of us.
Another recent change is my purchase of a Berkey water filtration system. My disclaimer here is that I am not a water snob. I am grateful to have easy access to clean, potable water regardless of if the water is from the tap, a plastic or glass bottle, a spring, or is distilled or filtered. However, I have the means and knowledge to improve the quality of the water I drink and cook with in my home. I have considered getting a water filter off and on for several years. I had opted to get Mountain Valley spring water in 2.5 gallon glass jugs for just drinking. When full, these jugs weight a lot plus, I was not using this water for cooking. I was looking for a simple, more economical solution to use long term. Berkey was always a contender and Chris Masterjohn’s Why I Just Switched My Water Filter to the Berkey sealed the deal.
I also managed to get a mind clearing 48 hour fast under my belt this week as well. I am looking forward to the holidays and feel fortified and ready to meet the challenges and temptations of the upcoming. Reset in progress. Time to get to work!
More to come…..
